Tour de Fredericton – Partie Deux

Thank you sooooo much for all the positive feedback on yesterday’s post! I don’t know why I was so nervous about posting that picture and talking about it. I guess I didn’t want to look like I was “showcasing” my weight loss in a “look at me” kind of way. But I have the awesomest readers ever, and you all understood the meaning behind the rambles :)

For the record, my blogging uniform isn’t as nice.

Sometimes I like not living with my boyfriend!! :P

I think I deserve to be lounging around in an oversized tee after my 4:30 am wake-up and crazy long bike ride today. Wanna hear about it?

Work eats were the norm. Breakfast cookie.

100_6339

I changed things up and added sliced almonds instead of coconut. Livin on the edge.

My new favourite bar (Luna is in trouble!)

100_6342

Peanut butter PowerBar. Kinda like a bar-shaped cookie! One of the best things about these bars is that the first ingredient is “whole oats.” Can’t go wrong with that, especially in a “protein bar.”

Lunch was not the usual white – but pink!

100_6345

Smoked salmon and laughing cow cheese on an english muffin.

And a braeburn…

100_6348

I was excited as this was my first braeburn experience. But I think I got a bad one, because there were some brown mushy spots inside even though it looked bruise-free. Good thing I’ve got more!

I then rushed home to watch the last 10k of the Tour de France. It was so exciting!! Cavendish (on his Scottie) whipped out in the last 1k and took his sixth stage. He may have lost the green jersey, but it was still pretty sweet :)

Then there was a little food porn to get me ready for my bike ride.

100_6352
Cinnamon raisin bagel, 1/2 a smooshed banana, 1 tbsp almond butter. Sweet jebus, this was good.

I was thisclose to putting off my long bike ride for this week. But in the end, I liked the idea of spending my afternoon on a “leisurely” bike ride :)

Duration: 2 hour and 24 minutes
Distance: 55 km (34 miles)
Avg Speed: 23 km/hr (14 mph)
Max Speed: 40 km/hr (25 mph)

The first 30 minutes seemed to drag on, but I eventually got into a groove. I ate four dates with PB at the 90-minute mark. It was perfect! My energy was starting to wane a little, but it was just enough to carry me through that last hour. I just wish I didn’t have to pee after the first 20k :( By the end of the ride I didn’t want to get off!! However, my crotch, neck, wrists and bladder would not have been impressed with that.

Next week – 60 km!!

I’m putting my morning workout off tomorrow until after work so my body has a proper 24 hours to recover from the bike ride. While it wasn’t overly taxing, it was still a significant amount of activity.

I had lots of time to think of what I was going to make for my recovery shake.

100_6358

  • 2 scoops Vega Smoothie Infusion
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond breeze
  • 6 ice cubes
  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1/2 tbsp almond butter
  • 2 scoops plain yogurt
  • handful frozen papaya chunks

The papaya chunks were added after I tried it and felt the texture was off. They make it so much smoooother!

After stretching, rolling and showering, I got started on another awesome homemade burrito.

100_6367

This burrito contained 1/2 cup Eden Organic Caribbean rice & beans, 1 scrambled egg, onions, mushrooms and a laughing cow cheese wedge (cause they make everything taste better).

Don’t worry, I also had my “congratulatory piece of chocolate” for my bike ride ;)

Eeek! My landlord just stopped by and said they’re showing my apartment on Tuesday!!! I’m going to have to whip this place into shape! Oh my gosh, I don’t know if that’s possible. There are some closets that need some serious cleaning, and a floor that hasn’t been vacuumed in weeks because my vacuum cleaner is broken (a certain boyfriend told me not to fix it myself because he can do it, I have yet to see these “skillz”)

Random Question: Are you a tidy person??

This may or may not be obvious, but I’m really messy. I have this tendency to not notice when things are lying around or in the way…

Have a great start to your week! :D

Edited to add: I forgot! I’m on Twitter!! I joined in a moment of office boredom. Please come visit me over there, I’m completely lost and have no friends! http://twitter.com/BalanceSusan

  1. Nice bike ride! That is awesome! I will add you on my twitter (javaqueen01), although I have gotten lax with Twitter.

Your bagel looks so yummy. I want another one now!

I have messy and tidy periods I go through. I don’t like clutter and I dislike dirt, so I really try to keep stuff cleaned and the floor swept and vacuumed. I work at home, so if something really bothers me, I can take 5 minutes and do it. Luckily, my hubby is quite neat.

    So when do you move?

  2. I can be tidy when I want to, but I can also be really messy!
Do you prefer biking to running? I find that biking aint much of a work out…but I’m probably doing it wrong!
and oh…smoked salmon is SO good with LC!

  3. i am pretty tidy now – i used to let things pile up and then do a major cleanse every now and then (which i admit, felt pretty good) but now i’ve worked tidying up into my daily routine – like brushing my teeth….

  4. WholeBodyLove

I am a bit of a neat freak when it comes to our house. But, I have had to let that go to some extent. My desk, however, is never as organized as I would prefer. Sorry about the bad apple…literally. I have had horrible luck with produce lately too. What gives?

  5. Stalking you on Twitter. I mean follow…semantics, lol.

I am tidy, but I am not clean. My house isn’t cluttered at all, but in terms of things like vacummins, dusting, cleaning windows…hehe. I am lazy about that stuff- except for my kitchen! When do you move? We can have a virtual house warming party!

  6. Yay for Twitter peeps!
I’m really, really tidy about some things, and then others I could care less about. As in, I don’t mind if the bed isn’t made right away, but I hate dishes in the sink!

  7. Nice bike ride! I’m really trying to increase my mileage too. Now that I’m back from my hiatus, I’ve got my long rides planned for Sundays.

I like to think that I’m a neat person, but in reality I end up letting things go a lot of the time. But it really stresses me out to have clutter, especially if other people are going to see it!

  8. I’m very messy. I’m sanitary though. I keep the dishes clean and the trash picked up and taken out. It’s just you’ll find all my clothes folded and stacked on the kitchen table, books and magazines everywhere, ect. I’m just VERY cluttered. Nothing in it’s rightful place!

  9. I just caught up and I have to congratulate you on your weight loss! That’s great, be proud :)

That PowerBar looks GOOD!! As does your bike ride snack! Well done with your ride!

‘laughing cow cheese wedge (cause they make everything taste better)” SO TRUE!!! One of my favorites is putting it on a cinnamon raisin bagel – yummmmm!

I’m a very tidy person! I don’t like when things are out of place or disorganized. I feel like if my house is like that, then my life is too!

  10. i lounge around in my boyfriend’s oversized tshirts at his house, at my house, i look like a slob more often than not. it is funny how i dont give a crap after 2 years, i remember the days when i used to actually try to look cute around him. not anymore! haha. (i am a lovely girlfriend, no?)

ohhh that bar looks really good! it looks identical to your bfast cookie actually. dang sorry about the nasty braeburn, that is actually my favorite variety of apple! better luck next time i hope.

REALLY impressed with your ride! you are such a trooper.. that is some serious mileage. 60 lm next-wow! machine!

and i am SO SO messy, i sound a lot like you. i am organized at work and very organized in my head but my room looks like a tornado hit it 97% of the time. good luck with the inspection!

  11. Is it bad that I DO live with my boyfriend, and your outfit is very, very familiar to me? It’s probably bad…poor guy has to deal with a slob of a gf…speaking of, I am totally like you…I just don’t notice mess! My condo is beyond tidy and that’s ALL him….if it were up to me, I’d let it get so bad before cleaning! Just not my thing, haha.

(YAY for Twitter! I’m about to go find you…)

  12. Oh girl you should be proud of your weight loss, you look amazing and you are also helping others at the same time with your blog.

    Yay to you!
