Geeking Out

Lookie what I got!!

I am officially a part of the 21st Century now. My first ever smartphone! I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without. But I’m not the kind of person who splurges on such nice things for myself (ie, I’m cheap). But my old LG Xenon phone is a worthless piece of junk that breaks just by looking at it.

So when the government gave me a handsome tax return yesterday, I immediately went out and bought an iPhone 4! Now I can be a little more present on Twitter and get to e-mails faster. Among many, many other things.

So now I want to ask all my iPhone readers out there – what are good apps? What’s your favourite thing about your iPhone? I’ve already downloaded Runkeeper thanks to Lauren and I can’t wait to use it!

And no, this is not an open invitation to bash on how crappy you think iPhones are. I know people feel very passionately about smartphone brands. My personal choice probably shouldn’t affect you so deeply :P

Be back tomorrow with a gazilion recipes!

  1. Congrats on the phone! In february I switched from a super crappy nokia flip phone to my crackberry and have fallen in love with it…smartphones are the bomb! Its so funny though how people get so polarized over their brand though. I’m loyal to mine but I’m sure the others are just as awesome!

  2. Hey! I don’t have an iPhone, but a friend does and she loves the “Waterlogged” app, as it helps you keep up with your daily water intake. Check it out:

    • Downloaded! I never used to have a problem drinking water, but I find I forget about it all the time now sitting at the office. Thanks Emily!

  3. one word: jealous. My phone is so 5 years ago.

  4. Sarah @ Long Legs Healthy Life

Yay iPhone! Here are my fave apps:
    Tweetdeck and Facebook
Kindle and iBooks – dangerous for me cause I spend a lot of $$ on books
Whatsapp for texting with people with blackberry or android
Instagram and camera plus for pictures
    Shopping list app
Evernote app for recipes and notes
    Netflix for movies/tv
    Wikipanion for reference
    Cuptakes for cute wallpaper
Most of them are free! Enjoy the phone!

  5. Thanks for the mention! Here are a few more…

There’s an app for the Livestrong Calorie Counter and also My Fitness Pal, if you’re doing that.

    Instagram is really fun!

There’s the Meal Snap app that freakishly estimates the calories in a plate if you take a picture.

I use OpenTable to make reservations at restaurants, especially when travelling.

Mark Bittman’s “How to Cook Everything” app is great!

I like Jumbline game to keep me busy on the subway.

Evernote is useful cause it’s also web-based so you can sync them.

The Nike training Club app is amazing for workouts. Coaches you like a trainer in your ear.

    Have fun!
