Greetings from the homeland!

Happy Saturday! :) I can say that this week, cause I’m not working!

Made it to my mom’s place safe and sound last night, despite some tricky weather.100_6663
Can you see the rainbow? Yeah, it eventually turned into this…

And then the heavens opened up and I got stuck in a torrential downpour. I almost pulled over, but I instead just decided to drive through it. My old car had winter tires on it, so it handled quite well in the rain (yes, I kept the snow tires on all year). But my new car is a hydroplaning machine, so it’s a little unsettling! Luckily, I had the Pixies Doolittle album to sing along to and keep me calm :)

I slept for a whole 8.5 hours last night, it was wonderful! I almost had a PB&J as my pre-workout snack, but I had a banana that was on its last leg instead. I need more PB&J in my life soon though! (maybe with grape jelly?)

Anyways, I headed down to my mom’s gym which lets you pay per visit. It’s brand new and full of shmancy equipment. I did my usual gym workout.

Stellar workout! Great way to start my day home :) Afterwards, I wandered down to the Farmer’s Market which was only a 5 min walk away. I tried to take a picture inside, but it was packed!!

One of the reasons why I don’t like the market. I do not handle crowds well at all.

I did however find what I was looking for – Middle Eastern food!

As if you’re surprised ;) This is what they called a “meat plate.” Aka, rice, sliced chicken, tabbouli, chickpea salad topped with a little lettuce, tomato, black olives and homemade tzatziki. Mmmm… This was HUGE, and heavy! A great post-workout meal. I ate all the tabbouli, most of the chicken, about half the chickpea salad and barely any of the rice. I saved the leftovers for some future meal…

I of course also picked up some local produce.

  • Gooseberries
  • Blueberries
  • Mini carrots
  • Tomatoes
  • Ginormous zucchini

I was most excited by the gooseberries since I’ve never tried them before. The lady assured me they were picked very ripe and not too bitter.

It was kinda like a more sour and softer version of a grape? I need more time with these…

I’m staying at my mom’s house all by myself. My mom, her partner in crime, his kids, and the dogs are all at the cottage. So it’s just me and Fergus holding down the fort. Poor Fergie has been left to his own devices and was getting lonely. He’s been rubbing up against me and pawing at me like mad. He even slept right next to me last night!

I’ve been trying to take a picture to show you guys how handsome he is, but he won’t stop lovin’ me!

Finally!!! He may be a little chunky, but my mom and I think he’s the most beautiful cat we’ve ever seen ;) And yes, I was hanging out on my mom’s kitchen floor. It’s always so clean and inviting! :P

Okee, I’m off to go shopping, maybe stop by my Nana’s place, then I’m off to my dad’s for a barbecue! He’s making steak, but I told him I don’t like steak, so he’s picking up pork chops for me instead. Going to be another meat experiment for me!

Have a great day everyone! :)

  1. oh i love fergus! what a cute fatty. my cat (RIP) was 25 lbs. loved him! wow you are a rockstar at the plank, i can go about 65 seconds, i need to work on that. also you do 25# back extension, is that on the bench holding a plate? or dumbbells? i dont think i could manage holding a 25# plate on my chest. oh and doesn’t canada use kg? i had been meaning to ask that, maybe you dont, i dont know much about canada but then again since i cant go there i guess i dont need to! the sky change looks gnarly and hydroplaning is SCARY! ahh, i hate that feeling. MMM the food you snagged looks right up my ally! i bet it was so delicious. have fun at your dad’s! and with the pork chop! xo

Hey Janetha! I always do the back extension on the inclined extension machine/bench thingy. This fancy gym I was at had special plates with grips, so it made the 25lb plate extra- easy to hold. And we don’t really use kg here, or at least I don’t! Personally, the only thing I measure using the metric system are liquids and distances. Yards and gallons confuse the hell out of me :P

  2. I hate driving in the rain! It was pouring on the way back from the race today, and I was sooo scared when we were driving down the highway. You could barely see!

Great workout and fabulous meal! That mediterranean plate looks incredible.

Ahhh Fergus is adorable! I love him :) Have a great saturday!

  3. Ok, that Middle Eastern dish looks BANGIN’…! I’m insanely jealous. Of your lunch AND your hardcore workout :) Sounds like an awesome day so far!

  4. i listened to doolittle too when i was driving back from las vegas last month:

  5. aww what a cute kitty cat :) I love when they are heavier :) haha
    great middle eastern food too!

  6. Yummy on the ME meal! (Except the olives).

Love Fergie – who says kitties are aloof?

  7. He’s adorable!! I love when kitties are a bit chunky…all the more to love!

So glad you’re having an awesome time at home…those times can be so fun and comforting!

  8. Must be nice to be home! My MIL always makes stuff with gooseberries…I don’t love ’em, they’re a little tar for me. I can’t imagine eating them straight like that! They do look like little grapes, though!
I tried plank for the FIRST time yesterday…can’t believe you did three sets of 90 seconds!! Holy abs!
