I suggest you write down your goals so you can check in too!! This way we won’t forget about them and actually get them achieved :)

Well the worst is behind us. That’s right, Tuesday is over. Today was actually a decent day in Susan-land. T’was a fun day at work. Started off spectacularly with a heavy upper-body weight lifting sesh.

Pheeeewie! My arms feel pretty good right now, but I know they’re going to be dead tomorrow. All last week it hurt just to hang my arms at my side, I expect nothing less this week ;)

Got to work nice and early to enjoy breakfast at my desk.

IMG_4452

  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla whey powder
  • 1 tbsp cashew butter
  • cinnamon
  • raisins
  • drizzle maple syrup

Morning snack was a piece of low-carb banana bread.

IMG_4458

Today I sandwiched some of my fave protein goo (protein powder + water) in there.

Lunch was leftovers from last night.

IMG_4459
A random mish mash of ground chicken, chickpeas and veggies. Tasted wonderful the next day.

However, I didn’t portion enough leftovers for myself, so I had to dig into my afternoon snack early.

Apple Cinnamon Protein Bar. Click on the link – it’s got a recipe page now!!

Dinner was a big ole’ salad.

IMG_4471

  • spinach
  • onions
  • mushrooms
  • tomatoes
  • yellow & red bell pepper
  • roasted soy nuts
  • herbed tofu

IMG_4464

The dressing was watered down pizza cheese with 2 tbsp hummus, 2 tbsp nutritional yeast flakes and 2 tbsp water. The tofu was also sautéed in a new food buy!

IMG_4404
Coconut oil!!
I’ve been wanting to try it forever after reading so many rave reviews on blogs. Fatty February finally gave me the extra push I needed to spend ten bucks on a jar. You only need a little bit, so I think my $10 will actually spread pretty far! I couldn’t really pick up the flavour on the tofu though, I’ll have to try it with veggies next.

Speaking of veggies, see that dark tomato there?

IMG_4475
It’s actually a kumato!

IMG_4401
One of those things I saw at the grocery store and couldn’t not buy ;) Apparently kumatoes are a specially sweet tomato. The texture was to die for!

Not a very exciting day in terms of food. Very simple, but my body is feeling good about what I fed it today :) Luckily, Ellie tagged me in a fun award!

The rules are as follows:

1. Thank the person who gave this to you.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you.
4. Tell up to six outrageous lies about yourself, and at least one outrageous truth.
5. Nominate seven “Creative Writers” who might have fun coming up with outrageous lies.
6. Post links to the seven blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know you nominated them.

Ahem. Thank you Ellie ;) Now onto my outrageous lies + one truth:

1. I read 36 books one summer in elementary school.
2. I won the highland dancing provincials when I was 6 years old.
3. I’ve been to Sidney Crosby’s house in Halifax although he wasn’t home at the time.
4. The fastest mile I ever ran was done in 7 minutes and 14 seconds.
5. I once made a vanilla latte for Jack White of the White Stripes.
6. When I was a reporter, I did a live television hit for Canada’s national news network, CBC Newsworld.

So my Question of the Day is which one do you think is the truth??

My nominations are randomly selected from the comments on my last post:

Renee
Brie
Jenna
Kristin
sophia
Lynda
Julie

Have fun!!!

Oh! One last thing! I want to start posting pictures/links to people who try out my recipes/eats. If you’re a blogger, leave me a comment or e-mail me with a link to your post and I’ll feature it. If you’re a non-blogger, send me some pics and you’ll be a blogger for a day ;) E-mail is thegreatbalancingact@gmail.com So if you’ve tried out a recipe in the past you want to share, send it my way, and keep it in mind for all future attempts!

See ya tomorrow for Waffle Wednesday!

  1. I’m going with #2!

I love using coconut oil because it can be an “oi” or more like a “butter” depending on the temp!

…and maybe it’s just my computer (or I’m crazy), but is there a tiny tiny smily face on the grey side panel on the right at the top of your page? haha so random

  2. I was inspired by your butternut squash fries from a couple of entries ago. It didn’t photograph so well; however, they were very tasty!

  3. I’m going to go with number one! Though after following your blog for so long, I’m not sure any are THAT outrageous. I could see you pulling off most of those as truths LOL

    Nicole G

  4. #5 – Rockers need their lattes!

*Nice* lifting session! Your gonna get some good guns if you keep that up :D

  5. ahhh dying to try coconut oil! i heard you can make super good chocolate with it!

  6. Hey!
I bought that coconut oil as my first one, but if you buy the extra virgin, it has way more flavor!! I found that one didn’t taste at all!! Just an FYI!! :)

    Great post! I think #4 is a lie… if not… damn girl, that’s FAST!!

  7. I think that #2 is the lie- though I kind of believe it- highland dancing is such a canadian childhood east coast thing- maybe it’s number 1- who knows?!

Also- have you seen averie’s coconut oil chocolate? you have to make it- so, so, so freaking good (as an alternative to chocolate)

  8. I love coconut oil, and those Kumatos sound so interesting! I need to look out for them!

I’m gunna go with #4, because you’re active and I think you’d be one fast chica =D

Thanks for the nomination, sounds like so much fun!!

    xo
    K

  9. Hmmm, #3, I think I’d believe them all though.
Thanks for the nomination, it was pretty cool to check in on your blog tonight and see my name among the listed!

  10. I want #5 to be true b/c I love “My Doorbell” :)

    Also love your protein goo.

Enjoy the rest of your week Susan!

  11. I think the truth is the last one! Maybe that’s just the newsy in me :)

  12. Wheee! I’m famous! Thanks for the award, Susan!
I’ll guess it’s the last one…because I WANT it to be! That’ll be so cool! And I don’t doubt you’re good enough to get that chance!

  13. Hi Susan got your Fat Talk comment re your mama…dear lord, I couldnt handle that. You are a strong woman for just dealing :)

The protein bars you make..do yours get soft on you? The ones I made get kinda soft. The addition of coconut oil to the mixture and storing them in the freezer/fridge helps though. But mine have 1 smooshed banana so they are prone to a little softness, which is fine.

Enjoy the coconut oil..make some of my coconut oil chocolate!! Not just saying it, but you’re gonna love it esp if you like darker choc. If you’re a milk girl, then skip it LOL

    • My bars usually hold up if I keep them refrigerated, there was one batch (the PB&J) that had to be kept in the freezer. That’s why I don’t put a lot of extras in them like bananas, because the extra moisture just turns them to mush :(

  14. I think the latte one is true!!!!!!

I need to get some coconut oil- I got the Babycakes cookbook for Christmas and almost all the recipes call for it. Yay for Fatty Feb carrying on!

  15. Ahhh so happy to be nominated for the award, thanks!! This is the first time I have received something like this, and I’m honored :)

I think the truth is #5: “I once made a vanilla latte for Jack White of the White Stripes.”

Another great workout too, I need to step it up after reading your strength routine!

  16. I think #2 is true!

I want to try those tomatoes. They look intriguing!

  17. Oh I have no clue which is true! I’m going to guess #5 because that would be cool. :)

That sounds like it was a GREAT workout!!!

  18. I want coconut butter in my life but the price tag completely terrifies me! I think I’ll just have to bite the bullet soon…

  19. i hope you were really a highland dancer – that would make me so happy! and yessssssss…coconut oil! i actually won a giveaway of TWO big tubs of that, so i have so much on hand and i LOVE it. the flavor is so subtle but so delicious.

    DID YOU BOOK THE FLIGHT?!?!

  20. Amazing eats!
    Loved them all ;)
    I really don´t know which one´s the truth…
    Maybe 6?
    Haha.
    Have a great day, girl!
    Brazilian XOXO´s,
    Gabriela
